classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the
U.S. business economy.

NAICS was developed under the auspices of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and adopted in 1997 to
replace the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system. It was developed jointly by the U.S. Economic Classification
Policy Committee (ECPC), Statistics Canada.
Dosersis uses the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) to classify its business establishments according
to type of economic activity they undertake. In the USA, Canada, and Mexico the NAICS has largely replaced the older
Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system; though some government departments and agencies, such as the U.S.
Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), still use the SIC codes.
